New York Bluegrass band Old Crow Medicine Show’s tickets have been rapidly disappearing (the venue was forced to shift) so best to get your tickets asap for this.

» Wellington Jazz Festival, March 5-8.
An excellent line-up of jazz and blues performers hit Wellington. Highlights include Brad Medhlau Trio, Dhafer Youssef, Eric Bibb, The Mingus Big Band, Otis Taylor, Roy Ayers, Tomasz Sta_ko. The full line-up is available at jazzfestival.co.nz – highly recommended!

» The Dead C w/ So So Modern, Fri March 6 @ The Front Room (Wgtn).
One of the most influential and important noise bands of all-time (and they’re from Dunedin) the Dead C play an all-too rare show in Wellington. Featuring support from So So Modern, this is part of the Orientation shows that will be on all month around the universities.

Provocative Dresden Doller, Amanda Palmer is bringing her witty solo show to New Zealand after the release of her solo debut album Who Killed Amanda Palmer.

» John Doe and Jim White, Thur March 12 @ Fat Eddies (Chch); Fri March 13 @ San Francisco Bathhouse (Wgtn); Sat March 14 @ Dog Bollix (Akld).
Southern Gothic star Jim White (who is known for his starring turn in the BBC doco Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus) teams up with the former member of the seminal punk band X (and now alt. country singer) John Doe for a classic double billed concert.

» WOMAD, March 13-15 @ Bowl of Brooklands (New Plymouth).
The glorious WOMAD has come again for another year. Yet another bunch of great artists including Natacha Atlas, Rokia Traore, Seckou Keita Quartet, Ska Cubano, Speed Caravan, Bedouin Jerry Can Band, Arte Kanela, Dengue Fever, Gurrumul, Seun Kuti and Egypt 80, plus plenty of great New Zealand stuff. The London based due are renowned for their incendiary live performances. It’d pay to get your ticket for this asap as well, as there aren’t too many left reportedly.
