How we collect and use information
We collect information in the following ways:
Subscription
During registration for subscription to our newsletter(s), we may ask for some personal details, such as your name, emails, gender and address. The more information you volunteer (and the more accurate it is), the better we are able to customise your experience. Once you register you are no longer anonymous and are able to take full advantage of our many offerings. Some of the information will be required before you can register; other information will be optional. Which information is required will be clearly marked as such, but you are under no obligation to provide us with any information.
Comments
Whilst browsing content on our website, users may add comments to editorial items via the comment feature located at the foot of each item. This feature asks – but does not require – users to enter their name and an email address or URL in addition to their comment. Entering either an email address or URL is not compulsory, and is entirely optional. Should users choose to include an email address, other users will be able to click on a link appearing above your comment, and email you. Similarly, providing a URL will create a link to that particular website. We bear no responsibility in the event of email addresses being obtained by third parties through the comment feature.
Comments by users are also moderated accordingly by Lumière Industries' website staff. Users may request the removal/amendment of comments should they no longer wish their email or URL to be displayed by contacting us.
Questionnaires
During the course of using our services, we may ask you to fill in short questionnaires giving us additional personal information. This may happen, for example, when you enter contests or participate in research surveys. The personal information collected on such forms is used to help us understand who is using our services and to verify compliance with contest conditions.
Other data sources
If you contact us we may keep a record of that correspondence and incorporate the information it contains into our user database. We may contact you in response to your correspondence, unless you explicitly request that we do not and we are not legally obliged to do so. From time to time we may purchase additional lifestyle data from external parties, to allow us to better understand our users and their likely interests and needs.
Usage Information
We use IP addresses and emails to analyse trends, administer the site and email newsletters, track user movements and gather information on traffic loads on our servers. This is used by us to find out how our users use our services.
How we protect information
All personal information is stored by us is kept on a server in a secure environment and in our offices.
Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online – for example on message boards, through email or SMS, in text chat areas or posting article comments (as our website allows) – that information can be collected and used by others.
