San Francisco Bathhouse, Transmission Room
May 17-18, June 2-3 | Reviewed by Jessica Manins

Mrs. Peacock (so named purely that they could have the word ‘cock’ in their email address) last night proved to an appreciative audience that they are more than worthy of the title ‘Most offensive Gag’.

Melodic songs and harmonies that could have belonged to the likes of Nickleback soon turned into songs about ‘passing gas while tapping your arse’ or replacing ‘nutella with poo’. The San Francisco Bathhouse was filled with laughter and dirty smirks; an obvious success in terms of the boys’ aim of pushing new boundaries of vulgarity. No world records were attempted though – a disappointment at first, but after their first song I was laughing so much I completely forgot.

From being ‘monosexual’ to ‘doing your father’ these boys do not hold back. I definitely enjoyed the more subtle songs and the old favourite ‘Tony’ was nicely redone with a full band. Even the suits in the corner managed to smile into their beers – I'm sure they'll be talking about it at the office tomorrow. A Vanilla Ice cover with a twist went over my head but roars of laughter indicated someone found it funny.

There were a few too many ‘poos and wees’ jokes and recurring themes of vulgarity near the end for my liking, but Jarrod and Dave still managed to win me over with their boyish charm and smutty humour. Not to mention their talent as musicians and their fantastic band.

If you like songs about ‘leftover foreskin’ and ‘sexy checkout girls’ then Mrs. Peacock are the comedy duo for you. They definitely rate highly in my books; I just hope their girlfriends know about their lyrics!

You can listen to Mrs. Peacock's songs online at Myspace and prepare yourself for their 'Fly my Peacock’ show; I'm sure it will be as offensive as ever.
